The pop-up buoy is designed for emergency situations and can be activated within 2-3 seconds. The pressurized helium in the helium cylinder located under the right rear seat of the aircraft can be released by means of a control lever mounted on the collective lever. The control lever uses a mechanical pull cable to activate the inflatable buoy, rather than relying on electrical activation. The pontoons can be activated at flight speeds up to 148 km/h. When not inflated, the pontoon is compressed in the air bag and placed along the sled tube of the landing gear, which minimizes the impact on the speed of the helicopter without hindering the entry and exit of the helicopter. The pop-up buoy adds 30kg to the helicopter's dead weight.
